The curse of Karybdis inflicts a type of vampirism that feeds on sunlight. The subcutaneous tissues adjacent to the symbiont vein spread contain cells with organelles capable of photosynthesizing H2O from a victim's blood (plasma) with inhaled and absorbed CO2. During a feeding session these cells become prominent on the surface as green spots. After feeding, the spots recede with the parasite's superficial veins remaining pronounced for an extended period.
This unique characteristic makes feeding quick and highly efficient during the day.
